It's about 7:00 am.
Want to know three things I learned this week?
Want to know three things I learned this week?
The first thing: On Sunday at church our pastor let us know that he had been elevated to Bishop the prior week! What an honor! But the message he preached on was one to provoke thought. In short of things, the basis of the sermon was that Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden were not the first two human beings God created.
Genesis chapter 1 and chapter 2 are not exactly talking about the same thing. I officially grasped hold of this when [after going through ch 1 &2 and noting some differences] we moved to chapter 4 after Adam and Eve had their first two sons Cain and Abel... later, Cain kills Abel and God curses him. Cain's reaction, in short, was "I'm going to be a fugitive in the earth... whoever finds me will slay me!" (Gen. 4:13). Wait, if there were only 4 people on the earth, and now there are 3 including himself... then who is he worried about? Surely not his parents. Then later in the chapter after Cain gets sent out of God's presence he ends up finding a wife in the land of Nod [east of Eden], having relations, and having his own son, Enoch (Gen. 4:17). Wait, where did this wife come from? There were only 3 people left in the original equation of which Eve was the only female, Adam and Eve had no daughters until after their third son, Seth, was born and Seth didn't come until after Cain had already gone away (Gen. 4:25, Gen. 5:4). Point of his sermon: read the word for yourself carefully and really look at what it is telling you.. We can't just read over the word like a magazine, we have to really grasp understanding. Some of you may have already known this truth about the creation story, but it was a lesson to me! I have been guilty at times of just reading the word without really grasping the case and point. I'm striving to increase my understanding! Whether Adam and Eve were first or not doesn't change anything about Christ's purpose and the way of salvation [and the focus of the text isn't really on the "other" people], but it is rather interesting to realize that they were there. The second thing: On Monday I tried a "new" Lays potato chip flavor [I say "new" because it's probably old, but it's new to me], it's called Tangy Carolina BBQ. It's the perfect combination of sweet and tangy.... the perfect combination or greatness. It's now my new favorite flavor! I didn't know a new favorite could take over after the long reining champ Cheddar and Sour Cream-- but lo' and behold it has happened! And there is even a recipe for Tangy Carolina BBQ Sauce on the back of the bag! Generous of them? I'd say so!
The third thing [parental digression is advised]: While watching "Dirty Jobs" [the special edition of Dirty Jobs for Shark Week on Discovery Channel-- "Dirty Jobs that Bite!"] the job for that segment was tagging Great White Sharks for data collection. It was a dirty and stinky job as usual, and then the hosts of the boat told Mike Rowe that Great White Sharks have two penises and no human has yet to see how they mate. Really? Fascinating.
If you don't mind holding for a minute, I'm going to go grab a bowl of Lucky Charms. [Magically delicious!]
So, while fixing my breakfast I have also learned that the water is off... Urgh. Sometimes the office will send out a notice as to when the city will be working on the water lines so we can make necessary schedule adjustments, and sometimes they won't... It appears that this time...{searching the mail}.... they have not. Looks like I won't be getting out until about 4:00 today...
Anywho, I've been on a serious "A Baby Story", "Baby's First Day", "Make Room for Multiples" TLC kick this week... {watching "Baby's First Day" right now!}... Though my husband and I aren't planning on kiddies coming into play until about 2 years from now, my motherly hormones do still tend to flare up from time to time. These shows greatly help in pacifying them for the time being... Turn the babies on, then turn the babies off ^_^.
Did you check out those websites I gave you for commentaries? Yes, there are a lot of "I didn't know that" moments when you read and re-read your bible. I'm glad your mother curiosity is piqued by those shows you're watching, at least you may consider having at least two children... :-)
ReplyDeleteNo, haven't checked them out yet; I will though. The baby shows don't make me want to have babies per se, they more so tone down the motherly flare ups I get lol. We already agreed that 2 children would be our target number, so looks like you will eventually have 2 grandchildren [hopefully no more.]
ReplyDeleteTangy Carolina BBQ sounds right up my alley! Bet I won't find it in Arizona though. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog and for your nice comment. Hope you'll come back to visit. :)
