Apologies, to anyone who keeps up with my blog-- I haven't scribbled anything in about a month now. When we last left off I was speaking of my unemployment and the swag there of... But now {drum roll} as of Wednesday, September 14th I have been brought on board with Kay Jewelers! {"Ceeeelebrate good times, come on!"}UNEMPLOYMENT, I BID YOU ADIEU!!
In other news, here are other note worthy things that have gone on since I last wrote:
Shooting Range: My husband bought a handgun last month to protect himself from wild hogs during deer season this year. I wondered if hogs were really that serious to have to buy a .40 Caliber to fend them off... That was until I saw a picture in the gun store of one that somebody killed. I initially was imagining a wild hog to be similar to an extra fury farm pig--relatively easy going, likes to eat and wallow around... BUT THESE THINGS... are just short of being a hoofed bears... and they're known to be very protective, violent creatures. Now I understand. But anywho, after purchasing his gun, my husband received 30 days free shooting range access at the gun shop--very good deal I'd say. So he and I along with a couple other family members decided to take advantage of the opportunity and test our gun skills. Us girls picked a 9mm as our gun of choice, pretty easy to handle; my husband and his cousin used their own guns. It was a very loud yet entertaining experience. It appears that I am better at wielding a gun than expected. I had no stray shots, all of them hit some part of my targets body and I am rather accurate when going for the head and chest... Who knew?
Zip Lining: Later the same day as the shooting range session a group of us went on a Canaan Zipline Canopy Tour in Rock Hill. I'm typically rather uncomfortable with heights. The tour started with us signing our lives away on waiver forms as most dangerous adventures begin. We then suited up in our protective gear, did a couple practice runs with our guides on a ground based line, and then headed 70 ft up onto a platform to begin our first line. It was fairly windy that day so the platform was swaying which was very unnerving for me. Everyone who zipped across before me did great sitting at the edge of the platform breathing a breath of courage and hoisting themselves over the edge into a free glide. I was second to last, my husband being after me. It took a good while for me to muster up half the courage that everyone else started with, and I sat at the edge of the platform for about 3 minutes while everyone offered encouragement from the other side. My husband later told me that he was debating just shoving me off the platform with his foot but he figured the instructors would frown upon that... But anyway, after I finally made it across and everyone got the first line out of the way, the rest of the tour was smooth sailing through the trees and over the river. I must say it was a lot of fun after I put my initial nerves aside; we all had a blast and plan to return again. If you're ever in the Rock Hill, SC area and are up for a little adventure check out the Canaan Zipline Canopy Tour!
A Visit Home: My husband and I were finally able to make it back to Greenville the other week to visit my mom and some friends of the family. It was Family & Friends weekend at my old church and my mom was just short of having my us sign in blood that we would be there (I received many reminders.) My mom was thrilled to see us for the weekend and we were excited to be there and see faces we haven't seen in quite a while. On Sunday there was an extra treat-- my husband's mother, sister, and grandmother were able to make it to Greenville for the day as well! It was great having both sides of the family together :).

Yes, you have the VICTORY. There was no doubt that you would find a job that you wanted. As for the shooting range, how could you forget you have already had practice!! Your dad and oldest brother took you out for range practice... shooting at the milk jug!!! My, my how could you forget the BB gun rifle and just a few years ago the 22 rifle. Zipline, glad you enjoyed it. Jamin did say when you two were dating that he would take you out of your comfort zone. Your visit home was a treat for me!My pride in you and Jamin was definitely seen on Family and Friends Day at church. It was a nice surprise that your in-laws were able to come to service also. I love you little girl and very proud of you! Love Mom.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the new job. I hope you enjoy it. I am sure you'll have lots of fun(ny) stories to share- retail at the holidays is always interesting. :)
ReplyDeleteLove your gun story. My husband got one a while back. He & his friend take the kids out so now my daughter announced that she'd like Santa to bring her a gun for Christmas!
Congrats on the new job! And no worries about not blogging. As all bloggers know, life sometimes (often) gets in the way of blogging!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
